How To Make Your Own Pumpkin Spice Latte (Without Syrup!)

Pumpkin spice season is here, and there’s no need to head to a coffee shop to enjoy your favourite autumnal treat. If you don’t have pumpkin spice syrup, don’t worry—you can still whip up a delicious homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte with simple ingredients from your kitchen.

Pumpkin Spice Latte Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp pumpkin purée (canned or homemade)
  • ½ tsp pumpkin spice mix (or a mix of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and cloves)
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar (or honey for a natural alternative)
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 250ml milk (dairy or plant-based)
  • 30ml espresso or strong brewed coffee - our Continental Coffee Beans make a wonderful espresso cup.
  • Whipped cream (optional)

Method:

  1. Prepare the Pumpkin Mixture: In a small pan over low heat, whisk together the pumpkin purée, pumpkin spice mix, brown sugar, and vanilla extract with the milk. Heat gently until warm, stirring to combine.
  2. Froth the Milk: If you have a milk frother, froth the mixture for a creamy texture. If not, whisk vigorously or use a blender.
  3. Make the Coffee: Brew a shot of espresso or a strong cup of coffee.
  4. Combine & Serve: Pour the coffee into a mug, then add the warm, spiced milk mixture. Stir well.
  5. Garnish & Enjoy: Top with whipped cream (if desired) and a sprinkle of cinnamon.

Want an Iced Pumpkin Spice Latte?

Follow the same steps, but let the pumpkin milk mixture cool, then serve over ice with cold coffee instead of hot espresso.

Now, you can enjoy the cosy flavours of autumn without needing a store-bought syrup!
